Lymphedema Lipedema
Lymphedema
Lymphedema and Lipedema are two different diseases. (Long-term lipedema can also cause lymphedema later.) Lymphoedema surgery will be the only solution for advanced and progressing cases where bandages and physiotherapy no longer yield results.
What operations are performed in lymphedema surgery?
There are basically 4 surgeries: (The following surgeries can be combined according to the patient's needs)
Microsurgical LymphoVenous Anastomosis: Suturing healthy lymph and veins together to provide flow.
Microsurgical Lymph Node Transfer: Transplantation of lymph nodes from a healthy area in cases where there are no lymph channels left.
Fat Suction (Liposuction): Removal of thickened tissues in cases where lymph channels are damaged or no lymph channels remain.
Tissue Removal by Cutting: Surgical removal of excess tissue in advanced cases where the above 3 surgeries cannot be performed.
[In Lipedema Surgery, the surgeries numbered 3 or 4 above are applied.]
What Are the Expectations After Lymphedema Surgery?

- Early stage and non-overweight cases will give much better results.
- Since each patient is different, the results will be different.
- Wrapping and physical therapy will continue before and after the surgery.
- In early stage cases, the use of compression garments may be eliminated in the long term. - In advanced stage and late treated cases, compression garments will continue for life.
- Before the examination, be sure to send us your Lymphoscintigraphy result.
